AudioChart works like the navigation app you already know: full charts, routes, and plotting. The difference is everything important is spoken aloud too — range and bearing to a waypoint, a tally of hazards on a new route — while it's still right there on the screen.
Nothing about the chart goes away — AudioChart just adds a voice on top of it.
Distance and heading to any waypoint — shown on the chart the way you'd expect, and spoken aloud when your eyes are elsewhere.
Draw a new route and hazards along it show up on the chart as usual — plus a spoken tally, so you know the count without staring at the screen.
Download your sailing area while you've got Wi‑Fi at the dock. Once you're out of range, the app — chart and voice both — doesn't know the difference.
The whole app in one tour, and everything in it works by hand or by voice. First the chart plotter: map types, an AutoRoute through the Fox Islands Thorofare started by double-clicking the boat, a bearing read aloud, and a Virtual Journey in 3D. Then the armchair: the bay in 3D with its traffic on a clock, a ride on the Vinalhaven ferry, Free sailing by wheel and by voice, and Penobscot Bay drained to the bottom.
Recorded from the live app on a computer. The narrator, the skipper’s commands and the app’s replies are synthesized voices; everything on screen is the app’s real response, with waits for a route or for 3D scenery trimmed.
You need a Google account and an internet connection. Do this once on each phone, tablet, or computer you want to keep in step — always with the same Google account.
What's backed upRoutes, Tracks, and Test Sets. Saved waypoints are not included — use Waypoints → Export all waypoints (GPX) to keep a copy of those.
Where it livesA hidden, app-only folder in your own Google Drive. You won't see it in your Drive file list, and nobody else can read it.
Nothing gets overwrittenEvery sync merges both sides. If the same route was changed on two devices, you keep both — the second appears as a conflict copy in the list for you to review.
Signing in againThe Google sign-in lasts until you close or reload AudioChart. After that, tap Sync again — Google will ask you to confirm. Wi-Fi Sync stays paused until you do.
A route built at the chart table doesn't need to stay there.
Lay out a route on the bigger screen at home, then send it straight to the phone or tablet that's coming aboard.
Any route made in AudioChart — on any device — can be shared to another. Plan on the dock, hand it to the crew, or sync it to yourself.
Already have routes in Navionics? Import them straight into AudioChart today — no need to rebuild anything from scratch. As routes planned directly in AudioChart get proven out on the water, the goal is to lean on Navionics less and less, until your charts and routes live in one place.
AudioChart installs like any app — no App Store required. Do this while you've still got Wi‑Fi.
Must use Safari — not Chrome — for this to work on iOS.
